The first shot in the show shows the time as 4 am local time in Kuala Lumpur. On a busy street a man ducks into what looks like a store, unloads a laptop and starts to transmit information. They do a neat satellite shot and we assume we follow the information to the USA and we also assume that this guy is an American since he has no accent, or is really good at covering it up. We enter Senator Palmers life at some sort of social, probably to round up votes. Walsh makes a call to tell them that there will be an attempt on Palmers life sometime on that day.

He is quite pissed off because he has to fork out an extra million dollars to Mandy's mystery friend who will not give them the ID. Before Jonathan gets past security, Palmer's press assistant, Jessica Abrams, introduces herself, as she's a big fan. Pierce runs a check on Jonathan, and gives him clearance. Rick tells Jack to go on without him, as he's in too much pain to continue and he's slowing him down. Jack agrees that Rick is, and tells him to speed up. After a near brush with one of Gaines' men, they press on. Teri tries to follow Jack's route, but is forced to make a detour to avoid the thugs. After the chopper lands and they get out, Jack learns that Teri's been having abdominal pain. He tells her they've arranged for her and Kimberly to see a doctor. She wants to stay with him, but he's got an appointment with Green. After some agents help the women into an ambulance, Green drops the bomb on Jack that she's placing him under house arrest until he can be turned over to the FBI. While Jack is being escorted back inside, he asks Nina in secret if she could drop by the clinic they've taken Teri and Kimberly to and check up on them.

Convinced that Jack wants him dead, the senator cuts through red tape to meet the alleged suspect, seeking to put an end to the entire affair "right here, right now." But when the two men start to compare notes, they find they have a common acquaintance, someone who may be another target. They also realize why the conspirators have chosen this particular day for their actions. Meanwhile, Nina (Sarah Clarke) debriefs Teri and Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) at the CTU safe house.

3:00-4:00 P.M.Big Car Explosion / season 1 - episode 16

After an aborted attempt to call back, Jack rings Agent Watson in CTU's New Orleans branch, and asks him to check on Ellis, whom he fears might be dead. Milo interrupts Jack with some urgent news: he's gotten hold of surveillance photos and case files of all three assassins, which he's already sent to Secret Service, and one of them is Victor Drazen's son. Outside the safe house, a chain of CTU agents have been set up to look like construction and lawn care workers.

Meanwhile, Tony (Carlos Bernard) learns that Teri and Kim's (Elisha Cuthbert) safety has been compromised, but Mason (Xander Berkeley) declines informing Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) of the situation. It's a calculated move to keep him focused on the business at hand as the Secret Service and CTU prepare for an operation that could give them an advantage over the conspirators. However, Jack does learn of Nina's (Sarah Clarke) telling exchange with Teri, and he's not happy about it.

5:00-6:00 P.M.Jack Bauer AKA Alexis Drazen / season 1 - episode 18

Meaning somewhere in the hotel room is money, which Jack needs them to find. Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) demands that Elizabeth be let off the hook, and stomps his feet when Jack responds that he doesn't recall asking her to give Alexis an emergency appendectomy with a letter opener. After his temper subsides, Palmer realizes Jack is just trying to protect him, and agrees to back off and let him do his job. Nina (Sarah Clarke) and a few other agents quickly find the money, in bearer bonds. She hands them to Jack, then wonders how he plans to magically transform himself into Alexis.

The alarm company calls, but Teri is unaware of the password. The guards from the company arrive, and Teri pretends to look for her purse to show them ID. She notices photographs of Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) and Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) in the living room. The guards recognize Teri from the photos, and they turn off the alarm for her. At California Plaza, Nina (Sarah Clarke) informs Jack that the man who was receiving the payoff is named Alan Morgan. Although he is now dead, he was supposed to turn off the electricity in one section of the city's power grid.

7:00-8:00 P.M.Jack and the Tazer / season 1 - episode 20
Written by: Garry Cambell
Directed by: David Straiton
Dennis Hopper joins the series for the season's remaining five episodes as the mastermind behind the conspiracy. His identity and motives for seeking vengeance against David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) and the Bauer family are revealed during this taut episode, in which Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) continues searching for clues as to why the Drazens had planned to cut the power in an apparently deserted area. Lou Diamond Phillips plays a man named DeSalvo who has some answers. Meanwhile, Mason (Xander Berkeley) heads back to interrogate Alexis Drazen; Rick tells Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) what to tell the cops; and the country responds to the press conference in which Palmer talked about Keith.

The polls close in California. A television reporter announces that Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) appears to have swept the state, as well as all others that held the Super Tuesday primary. In the company of himself, Palmer soaks up every last drop of the news, no doubt waiting for the right moment to let the bragging begin. Kimberly, meanwhile, is biding her time in the women's group holding cell. An estrogen-challenged black officer brings Melanie around, and drops her off so Kimberly can have a familiar face to keep her company. Melanie walks right over to Kimberly, and tells her she's in her seat. Kimberly says fine, gets up, and sits elsewhere.

From his hospital bed, Alexis admits failure to his father. Victor tells his son that since they are both alive, he has not failed. Victor tells the CTU people listening to the call that he will trade the life of Jack for that of Alexis. Mason (Xander Berkeley) speaks up, informing Victor that he is not authorized to make such a trade. Victor says that when he calls back, Mason had better have an answer.

Directed by: David Greenwalt
Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) calls into CTU and tells them he is fine, but that he has to help find Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) first. George (Xander Berkeley) & Nina (Sarah Clarke) realise the only reason Jack would be set free like this is if the Drazens were going to try and get him to kill Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) again. George calls the Secret Service to tip them off and to prevent Jack from getting to Palmer. Palmer gives Patty his room key, and tells him to meet him in 20 minutes Victor and Andre Drazen reunite with Alexis, but he dies moments later from internal bleeding.Patty tells Sherry that Palmer has given her his room key and told her to meet him. Sherry tells Patty to report back to her after she sleeps with him. Tony (Carlos Bernard) discovers that the plans to the detention facility that was holding Drazen had been tampered with.

11:00 P.M.-12:00 A.M.Unhapilly Ever After / season 1 - episode 24
Written by: David Greenwalt
Directed by: David Greenwalt
The episode finds Sherry Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) distressed about the role she's been made to play in the media ruse that was necessary to buy time for Jack (Kiefer Sutherland). When Jack arrives at the perimeter of the Drazens' location, a war of wills ensues. However, a phone conversation gives Jack information that helps identify the second CTU traitor, enabling him to warn Nina (Sarah Clarke). And as time grows short for the Drazens to make their escape, Andre and Victor disagree about whether to follow through on at least one part of their plan. After learning that the Drazens know about Palmer, Jack calls Nina to say he is certain that someone in CTU is feeding the Drazens information. Only she, Tony (Carlos Bernard), Mason (Xander Berkeley) and Ryan Chapelle know that Palmer is alive.
