Freyr (he's the norse god of sun and rain, and the patron of bountiful harvests) is the Asgard pretending to be their god and he let's them see the Asgard High Council, but they can't help as it would invalidate theProtected Planet's Treaty with the Goa'uld putting all protected worlds at risk, O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) is not a happy chappy!

They are introduced to SC-1 as the Aschen and appear to be the saviours of the planet - they help the people to cultivate their lands and are highly repected by the hundreds that populate the planet. However O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) isn't happy he finds it suspicious that they won't tell SG-1 their home world co-ordinates so he tells Daniel (Michael Shanks) to start snooping around and find out as much as he can about the Ashen and the history of the planet. Teal'c (Christopher Judge) and Daniel soon discover an underground city which was not so long ago populated by millions who were just as technologically advanced as Earth. Martin Lloyd (last seen in season 4's Point of No Return) pitches a script to a television studio, which reads suspiciously like the Stargate scenario. The Airforce let it go so they have "plausible deniability". Jack is sent to confront him to find out why the ship is coming to Earth. When he gets there he finds Marty has lost his memory again and he and "Murray" (Teal'c) (Christopher Judge) work with MArty, Jack as the Airforce consultant on the show and "Murray" as a caterer, while Sam and Daniel (Michael Shanks) do surveillance.

Once inside the SGC its entirely up to them.

48 Hours / season 5 - episode 14
written by Robert C. Cooper
direct by Peter F. Woeste
Disaster strikes when SG-1 go rushing through the Stargate to escape 100s of Jaffa but Teal'c (Christopher Judge) delays his return to blow up Tanith's ship, which then crashes into the Stargate trapping Teal'c in transit. Sam theorises that Teal'c's "pattern" is trapped in the Stargate and that if they can somehow initialise it they can retrieve him. They can't use the gate to send anyone through or back as that would wipe Teal'cs pattern from the buffer, so they seal the iris inside the gate so no one can dial in. Col Simmons comes and tells them they only have 48hours to get Teal'c out, and brings with him a very annoying scientist who the Pentagon think is the top blocke on Stargate science (despite the fact he's never actually seen the gate before) and it's he who says after 48hours Teal'cs pattern will degrade.

Summit / season 5 - episode 15
written by Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie
directed by Martin Wood
The Tok'ra enlist the help of Daniel (Michael Shanks) to infiltrate a meeting of the Goa'uld System Lords with the aim of killing all the Goa'ulds at one time. The Tok'ra have a device which is deadly to all symbiote's and when activated will kill all within the surrounding location. Daniel uses a mind altering drug which makes the System Lord Yu believe that he is his slave and as he hasn't encountered any of the other System Lords it shouldn't be a problem. However there seems to be a new player on the scene Osiris (Daniels ex-girlfriend Sarah). As Daniel hasn't used the weapon yet this causes a problem because his identity has now been discovered.

Last Stand / season 5 - episode 16
written by Robert C. Cooper
directed by Martin Wood
Daniel (Michael Shanks) injects Sarah/Osiris with some of the mind altering drug and she thinks he's Yu's servant. Then Daniel talking to Selmak explains he can't use the Tok'ra weapon as he doesn't want to kill Sarah but Selmak convinces him it's the right thing to do. Daniel goes back to the conference but discovers that Osiris is working on behalf of another Goa'uld who is great and powerful - Anubis- he now can't use the weapon as if he kills all the System Lords then Anubis will be the greatest and it's worse having one Goa'uld in control than lots fighting for power. Daniel also finds out that Zapacna knows the location of the Tok'ra base and is going to attack it. Daniel tries to capture Osiris so the Tok'ra can take the Goa'uld out of Sarah but the plan misfires and Osiris ends up knifing Yu, and Daniel escapes and he and Selmak go to see if they can warn the Tok'ra.

Fail Safe / season 5 - episode 17
written by Joseph Mallozzi, Paul Mullie
direct by Andy Mikita
Earth finds itself threatened by something even larger than the Gou'ald when the team learns that an asteroid is on a collision course with the planet. Amazingly no one else has seen it and they concoct a bomb with Naquadah and an atomic warhead which they put on a Goa'uld cargo ship - one which had previously crashed and which they manage to fix up. When they get there though they discover it's full of Naquadah and it's all a Goa'uld trick to blow up Earth without appearing to break the treaty with the Asgard.

He teaches the Jaffa to fight to the death and that the mission is more important than their own lives. O'Neill becomes even more concerned when Ka'tano sends Teal'c on a mission which he believes will mean certain death for his friend and decides that he won't be suggesting an alliance to General Hammond (Don S. Davis) and asks Teal'c to reconsider and return with SG-1 back to Earth but he doesn't seem to be listening to him.

He is rushed back to Earth immediately having been exposed to a deadly dose of radiation. When O'Neill (Richard Dean Anderson) returns to the planet he finds that the Collonians are actually blaming Daniel for the accident instead of thanking him for saving their live's so he sets out to set the record straight.
