The current spiritual leader of Bajor, Kai O'Paka, calls upon Cmdr. Sisko as the Emissary, a title he is reluctant to assume, to help find the Celestial Temple. The Cardassians had stolen all but ONE of the 9 orbs sent to the Bajorans by the prophets.

Sisko must use the final orb to find the Celestial Temple before the Cardassians do. He and Lt. Cmdr. Dax decide to go to the Denarious Belt, where most of the orbs had been found. They discover a very interesting thing, a stable Wormhole that leads to the unexplored Gamma quardrant. All hell breaks loose when Sisko and Dax and the Cardassian ship that followed ALL get trapped on the other side.
Past Prologue / season 1 - episode 3 written by Kathryn Powers directed by Winrich Kolbe music by Jay Chattaway A member of the Bajoran terrorist group, Kohn Ma, comes on board the space station and Major Kira's loyalties are divided between her old loyalties to the Kohn Ma and her new loyalties to Bajor and the Federation. Tahna Los has a plan to obtain a bomb to destroy the wormhole in the belief that if the wormhole is destroyed, neither the Cardassians or the Federation would be interested in Bajor or the station any longer.
A Man Alone / season 1 - episode 4 teleplay by Michael Piller story by Gerald Sanford and Michael Piller directed by Paul Lynch music by Jay Chattaway During routine banter with Quark on the Promenade, Odo spots Ibundan, a Bajoran man he jailed months ago for murder, and the old enemies get into a fight almost immediately. Not long afterward, Ibundan is found dead in one of the Promenade's holosuites, and evidence has been carefully placed to lead a trail to Odo, a suspicion which spreads among the station's populace along with rumors of Odo being a Cardassian agent and a growing paranoia.

Q-Less / season 1 - episode 7 teleplay by Robert Hewitt Wolfe story by Hannah Louise Shearer directed by Paul Lynch music by Dennis McCarthy Dax picks up the adventuress Vash in the Gamma quadrant and brings her to the station. After two years of wandering around with "Q", Vash intends to settle down on Earth and sell the artifacts she collected. At the same time, the station undergoes heavy problems with it's power-supply, and after an explosion it is driven towards the wormhole. O'Brien thinks "Q" is responsible for the stations problems, but he is neither admitting anything, nor willing to help.
Dax / season 1 - episode 8 teleplay by D.C. Fontana and Peter Allan Fields story by Peter Allan Fields directed by David Carson music by Jay Chattaway A small group of Klaestrons try to kidnap Lt. Dax from the station, but Sisko snags their ship in the station's tractor beam before they can escape with their hostage. The leader of the Klaestron party, Ilon Tandro, claims to be carrying out the extradition of Dax on charges of treason and the murder of Tandro's military father 30 years before, when Dax inhabited the host body Curzon.
The Passenger / season 1 - episode 9 teleplay by Morgan Gendel, Robert Hewitt Wolfe and Michael Piller story by Morgan Gendel directed by Paul Lynch music by Dennis McCarthy A criminal captured on his way to DS9 to steal a shipment of diridium dies in a fire aboard his ship. Or does he? His captor, Ty Kajada who's spent a large portion of her life tracking Vantika doesn't think so even though Dr. Bashir certifies him dead.
Move Along Home / season 1 - episode 10 teleplay by Frederick Rappaport, Lisa Rich and Jeanne Carrigan-Fauci story by Michael Piller directed by David Carson music by Dennis McCarthy A new alien race from the Gamma quadrant pays a visit to DS9 and catches Quark cheating at games. Their leader, Falow, forces Quark to play a game without knowing the rules... or the real players - Sisko, Kira, Bashir, and Dax.
The Nagus / season 1 - episode 11 teleplay by Ira Steven Behr story by David Livingston directed by David Livingston music by John Debney A visit from the Grand Nagus Zek (Wallace Shawn) leaves Quark the leader of the Ferengi business empire — a position which may ultimately prove fatal.
Vortex / season 1 - episode 12 written by Sam Rolfe directed by Winrich Kolbe music by Dennis McCarthy A visitor to the station (Kroden) from the Gamma quadrant tries to rob Quark and twin Miradorn's who are trying to fence a valuable item. The robbery attempt is foiled by Odo who takes Kroden prisoner but not before one of the Miradorn is killed. While in custody, Kroden tells Odo that he's encountered other changelings in the Gamma quadrant and a strange necklace he wears may hold the key to Odo's past.
Battle Lines / season 1 - episode 13 teleplay by Richard Danus and Evan Carlos Somers story by Hilary J. Bader directed by Paul Lynch music by Dennis McCarthy On a routine day at the station, Kai Opaka, the Bajoran spiritual leader who helped lead Sisko to discover the wormhole when he first arrived at DS9, pays a surprise visit. Sisko, Kira and Bashir take Opaka on her first trip through the wormhole. Before they can return to the station, a signal is detected from a series of satellites orbiting a moon in the Gamma Quadrant.
The Storyteller / season 1 - episode 14 teleplay by Kurt Michael Bensmiller & Ira Steven Behr story by Kurt Michael Bensmiller directed by David Livingston music by Dennis McCarthy Nog and Jake meet the head of a Bajoran diplomatic corps, a 15 year old girl, and show her around the station. The three of them spend lots of time together on the promenade and the company of the boys seems to help Varis during the negotiations. O'Brien and Bashir get in the midst of a ceremonial happening on Bajor. The spiritual leader of a native village, the Sirah, dies and chooses O'Brien as his successor. The people of the village now ask for his help against a mysterious monster that appears by night.
Progress / season 1 - episode 15 written by Peter Allan Fields directed by Les Landau music by John Debney Kira questions her Bajoran heritage as she tries to evacuate a farmer whose home is threatened by a mining project .
If Wishes were Horses / season 1 - episode 16 teleplay by Neil McCue Crawford & William L. Crawford and Michael Piller story by Neil McCue Crawford & William L. Crawford directed by Robert Legato music by Jay Chattaway The strange behavior of space near the wormhole and the sudden appearance in Chief O'Brien's quarters of a character from a bedtime story read to Molly signal the beginning of an alien study of the station's crew from the vantage point of manifestations of their imaginations.
The Forsaken / season 1 - episode 17 teleplay by Don Carlso Dunaway and Michael Piller story by Jim Trombetta directed by Les Landau music by Dennis McCarthy A mysterious probe from the Gamma quadrant causes problems for the inhabitants of Deep Space Nine. Meanwhile, Lwaxana Troi causes problems for Odo because he recovered a piece jewelry of hers that had been stolen in Quark's.
Dramatis Personae / season 1 - episode 18 written by Joe Menosky directed by Cliff Bole music by Jay Chattaway A Klingon ship returning from the wormhole explodes but not before the crew of the station are able to transport the captain to the station. The captain dies almost immediately, only able to tell them one word "Victory". After his death, all of the inhabitants, except Odo begin to behave... differently.
Duet / season 1 - episode 19 teleplay by Peter Allan Fields story by Lisa Rich & Jeanne Carrigan-Fauci directed by James L. Conway music by Dennis McCarthy A Cardassian in need of medical help arrives at the station and is mistaken for a war criminal who commanded a mining camp where many Bajorans were forced to work for the Cardassians and where many of them were killed.
In the Hands of the Prophets / season 1 - episode 20 written by Robert Hewitt Wolfe directed by David Livingston music by Dennis McCarthy In a wonderful parallel to our society, a Bajoran religious leader (Vedek Winn), objects to the things Keiko is teaching in her school on board the space station. In particular, she objects to Keiko not teaching Bajoran religion. Vedek's Winn's complaint, and the reaction of Bajorans on the station, sets Bajor against the Federation and threatens to destroy everything that Commander Sisko and the Federation have done to establish an alliance. report error and omissions here
