After Marge Simpson spends the family's Christmas money on removing a tattoo that Bart Simpson got, and Homer's Christmas bonus is cancelled, Homer Simpson must find out a way to keep the Christmas spirit alive without shattering the hopes of his family. A trip to the dog tracks is their last hope. The dog they bet on, Santa's Little Helper comes in last, and gets the boot from his owner. The Simpsons take the dog, bring it home, and the family think it's the best present they have ever gotten for Christmas.
Bart the Genius / season 1 - episode 2
Bart Simpson swaps IQ tests with the class brain, and ends up the butt of everyone's jokes at a school for gifted kids. He feels out of place at school, but loves Homer Simpson's attention to him at home. When Bart's science project explodes and nearly destroys the school, he confesses and goes back to his old school. Homer is angry and chases Bart around the house at the end of the episode.
Homer's Odyssey / season 1 - episode 3
When Mrs. Krabappel's class goes to the power plant, Homer Simpson gets fired for causing an accident while he was looking for Bart Simpson, and almost commits suicide. He see the light, and becomes a safety activist, and soon goes after the plant he was fired from. To stop Homer, Mr. Burns offers him a higher job with better pay, and Homer accepts. NOTES: Montgomery Burns and Smithers are introduced.
There's No Disgrace Like Home / season 1 - episode 4
After seeing family bliss at the recent family picnic, Homer Simpson wants to have a family like that. Going to Moe's, he sees an ad for Dr. Marvin Monroe, a psychiatrist. Selling the TV for the money, the family goes to see him. Dr. Monroe has to revert to electric shock therapy, and the case is so bad that the Simpsons are given double their money back. Homer uses this money to buy a new, better TV and the family is back together again. NOTES: First scenes of Itchy and Scratchy.
Bart the General / season 1 - episode 5
Lisa Simpson brings cup cakes for her class one day, but when stepping off the bus, school bully Nelson Muntz has other plans for the baked goods. He takes the box right from Lisa's hands prompting Bart Simpson to attack Nelson not realizing what could come of this. A few quick punches from Bart has an angered Nelson bleeding from the nose, and out for revenge. During the day Bart is looked upon as the school hero, but when the bell rings for home time, he doesn't feel like one. For the next while after school, Bart faces the wrath of Nelson.
Moaning Lisa / season 1 - episode 6
Lisa Simpson is feeling down and blue about the problems around her, and meets a fellow blues musician, Bleedin' Gums Murphy. Marge Simpson tells her to put a smile on, but then realizes her classmates are demoralizing her, and tells Lisa that it is best to be herself. Meanwhile, Homer Simpson has lessons from a videogame wizard at the arcade so that he can beat Bart Simpson. When they have a match, Homer is winning when Marge pulls the plug on the TV to announce Lisa's recovery. At the end, the Simpsons go to a concert and listen to Bleeding Gums Murphy play a song composed by Lisa.
The Call of the Simpsons / season 1 - episode 7
When Ned Flanders pulls up to his house with a new mobile home, Homer Simpson gets jealous and goes to Bob's RV Round-Up to buy his own and impress Flanders. Thrilled with the new RV, Homer takes the family on a trip in the wilderness. While taking "a shortcut", Homer leads the family into the middle of nowhere, where the van comes to a halt on the edge of a cliff. The family manage to escape just as the RV plummets into an abyss. Stranded in the wilderness, Homer and Bart Simpson look for food.
The Telltale Head / season 1 - episode 8
In order to impress some bad kids at school, Bart Simpson cuts off the head of a statue of the town's founder, Jebediah Obediah Zacariah Jenadiah Springfield. Unfortunately, this stunt shocks the whole town, even the bad kids Bart tried to impress. When faced by an angry mob, Bart reminds them that his act has led them to defend their heritage. He is forgiven. NOTES: Reverend Lovejoy is introduced.
Life on the Fast Lane / season 1 - episode 9
Last second birthday shopping by Homer Simpson for Marge Simpson has become to disaster, and this year is no different. For her 37th birthday, Homer gives his wife a bowling ball - even though Marge is not a bowler. Frustrated at her husband, Marge does the opposite of what Homer would have wanted, and keeps the ball for herself. She takes up the sport in her spare time, and receives a helpful hand from expert bowler Jacque down at the alley.
Homer's Night Out / season 1 - episode 10
Bart Simpson orders a tiny spy camera in the mail and starts to take pictures of things. One of these things is a shot of Homer Simpson dancing with a belly dancer named Princess Kashmir during a stag party. When the picture starts to make it around the whole town, Marge Simpson eventually gets hold of it and kicks Homer out the house. Guest Starring Sam McMurray as Gulliver Dark.
The Crepes of Wrath / season 1 - episode 11
After flushing a cherry bomb down the school toilet, Bart Simpson is sent to France via a student exchange, and ends up working for some crooks who want to put anti-freeze in the wine. Meanwhile, the Simpsons receive Adil Hoaxha, an Albanian exchange student who is actually a spy. The French crooks are found out, and Bart returns home speaking fluent French and with presents for everyone
Krusty Gets Busted / season 1 - episode 12
While getting ice cream for Patty and Selma's slide showing, Homer Simpson witnesses an armed robbery take place at the Kwik-E-Mart. The assailant appears to be Bart Simpson's hero, Krusty the Clown and Krusty is arrested for the crime. while everybody else in the town thinks the worst of Krusty, Bart has a feeling he's be framed. Guest Starring Kelsey Grammer as Sideshow Bob.
Some Enchanted Evening / season 1 - episode 13
Marge Simpson calls a radio shrink and tells that their marriage is failing, Homer Simpson takes Marge out to a nice dinner and a night at the Offramp Inn. However, the sitter they hired was featured that night on America's Most Armed and Dangerous. Marge and Homer rush home to check on the kids and find that Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson have overpowered the babysitter and tied and gagged her. Thinking it a cruel joke, Homer pays the babysitter 3 times her normal fee and she leaves before the reporters and cameras arrive. Homer then realizes he has been tricked. Guest starring Penny Marshall.
