When the test comes up, Bart pretends to be sick and gets sent home. Ringing Milhouse for the answers that night, he writes them down on his test, not knowing they are wrong. He gets an F, but gets one more chance. Bart does a deal with Martin - Martin helps Bart pass the test, and Bart helps Martin become popular. However, instead of helping Bart, Martin plays with his new friends. Bart re-takes the test and gets another F, but in frustration he blurts out the right answers to Mrs. Krapabbel and gets a D-. Homer Simpson proudly display's Bart's test on the refrigerator door.
Simpson and Delilah / season 2 - episode 2 After trying a hair-growing formula, Homer Simpson gets promoted to an executive position thanks to his new hairstyle, and gets a male secretary who helps him along in his job. When Smithers, burning with jealousy, looks through Homer's transactions, he finds the bogus insurance claim and confronts Homer. His secretary takes the blame and is kicked out. When Bart Simpson breaks the hair formula bottle, Homer returns to his bald self, but his ex-secretary tells him that believing in himself made him a better person. He is then depromoted to his old position. Harvey Fierstein guest stars.
Tree House of Horror / season 2 - episode 3 Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson swap three horror stories in their tree house: In Bad Dream House, the Simpsons move into a haunted house, complete with a dimensional vortex, bleeding walls, and an Indian burial ground. Next, aliens kidnap the Simpsons, and invite them to a 'great feast' on Rigel 4 in Hungry Are the Damned. Finally, James Earl Jones narrates Edgar Allen Poe's classic tale starring the Simpsons. This version stays very close to the original poem in The Raven.
Two Cars in Every Garage and Three Eyes on Every Fish / season 2 - episode 4 When Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson catch a three-eyed fish, the event makes headlines and a team comes to investigate Mr.Burns' nuclear plant. Finding numerous violations, despite Mr.Burns's attempts at bribery, the team tells him to clean the plant up or they will shut it down. Homer Simpson accidentally tells Burns that if he was governor he could keep his plant open. Burns runs for governor, and the stakes are neck and neck. When Burns goes to the SImpson household and is served the three-eyed fish, he spits it out, sinking his campaign.
Dancin' Homer / season 2 - episode 5 Homer Simpson recalls a story while drinking at Moe's Tavern. He tells of how he became the Springfield Isotopes mascot by doing a drunken dance at a match. Homer becomes so popular that the Simpsons move to Capital City. However, when in a Capital City game, Homer's small town routine flops and the Simpsons go home. Homer realizes while telling the story that for once in his life people want to listen to him.
Dead Putting Society / season 2 - episode 6 When Homer Simpson is invited to the Flanders household, he thinks Ned is showing off his better lifestyle, when really he didn't mean too at all. Todd enters a golfing contest, so Homer enters Bart Simpson. Lisa Simpson teaches Bart Zen methods of concentration and his game improves. When Bart and Todd reach the final, they declare a draw, claiming that there is too much stress on both of them. As a result, both fathers end up mowing the lawn in their wives' Sunday dresses.
Bart vs. Thanksgiving / season 2 - episode 7 Bart Simpson runs away from home when he accidentally burns Lisa Simpson's masterpiece while arguing where on the table it should go. Walking the streets cold and hungry, Bart finds a homeless shelter that is serving Thanksgiving dinner. Bart is put on the news by a TV crew that interviews him. When seeing him on TV, Marge Simpson and Homer Simpson ring the police. Bart eventually wanders back home and sits on the roof to think things over. He hears Lisa cry because she misses him, and Bart apologizes to her. Reunited, the family have their Thanksgiving dinner.
Bart the Daredevil / season 2 - episode 8 Bart Simpson embarks on a life of death-defying feats when he sees a daredevil perform at a Monster Truck Rally. When trying a car jump on his skateboard, he hurts himself and gets a lecture about safety from Dr. Hibbert. However, Lance Murdock (the daredevil) is there, and urges Bart to live life on the edge. When Bart tries to jump Springfield Gorge, Homer Simpson stops him and they hug each other. Unfortunately, Homer then slides backwards on the skateboard and accidentally tries to jump. He nearly makes it, but severely injures himself and has to be taken to hospital.
Itchy and Scratchy and Marge / season 2 - episode 9 After watching an Itchy and Scratchy cartoon, Maggie Simpson bonks Homer Simpson in the head with a hammer. Marge Simpson finds out why, and writes a letter to the creators of the cartoon. Nothing happens, so a demonstration is led by Marge. As ratings plummet, the producer asks Marge for plot ideas. With Itchy & Scratchy a now tame team, the ratings hit rock bottom. When other crusaders ask Marge to help them ban a showing of Michelangelo's David in Springfield, Marge doesn't see anything wrong. She then realizes she can not campaign for one form of free speech while accepting another.
Bart Gets Hit By a Car / season 2 - episode 10 When Mr. Burns hits Bart Simpson in a auto accident where Bart was on his skateboard, Bart has an after-death experience. There is a mix-up in Hell, and Bart regains consciousness in hospital. Homer Simpson sues Mr.Burns for $1M, using false injuries on Bart as evidence. Mr.Burns offers the Simpsons a settlement of $500,000. In court, Marge Simpson tells the true story, and Homer is angry. At Moe's Tavern, Homer is drinking a beer when Marge comes in - he looks her in the eyes and tells Marge that he loves her more than ever.
One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish / season 2 - episode 11 Homer Simpson takes the family to a Japenese sushi restaurant. After sampling the items on the menu, Homer selects the blowfish, ignoring the waiter's warnings that it can be fatal. When the master chef sees that the fish Homer ate was cut improperly, Homer is taken to hospital and thinks he has 24 hours to live. Homer does all the things he wants to do before he dies, and in the middle of the night falls asleep listening to the Bible on casette. The next morning, Marge Simpson thinks Homer is dead, but finds that he is drooling. Homer celebrates his existence, and goes back to his fatty lifestyle.
The Way We Was / season 2 - episode 12 When the TV goes out, Homer Simpson and Marge Simpson tell how they first met in 1974 Springfield. Homer sees Marge in detention for women's rights demonstrations, and falls instantly in love. He asks Marge to tutor him in French, but Marge finds out that he's doing it just to see her. She goes to the prom with Artie Ziff, but realizes Homer was the man she wanted to be with.
Homer vs. Lisa and the 8th Commandment / season 2 - episode 13 Moses received the ten commandments from God, among which was Thou Shalt Not Steal. In present day Springfield, Homer Simpson gets an illegal cable hook-up, which Lisa Simpson refuses to watch, for fear of losing her soul. She asks the advice of Reverend Lovejoy, who tells her to not watch the cable (she can't demonstrate because that would break the 5th Commandment). During a big fight, Homer's conscience wins and afterwards he climbs up the power pole and cuts the cable hookup, and all the power in the street as well.
Principal Charming / season 2 - episode 14 Due to Selma confiding in Marge Simpson, she tells Homer Simpson to set up a date between Principal Skinner and Marge's sister, Selma. However, it ends up being Skinner and Patty. Selma sinks even deeper into despair. Barney offers Selma a date, and seeing no other prospects she accepts. Skinner asks Patty to marry him, but she refuses as she sees the relationship's effect on her sister. She rescues Selma from Barney and the two of them go home.
Oh, Brother, Where Are Thou? / season 2 - episode 15 Fearing death, Grandpa Simpson tells Homer Simpson that he has a half-brother. This half-brother, Herbert Powell, is a carmaker in Detroit, and wants Homer to design a car for the average man to save his car company. Homer spends several months designing the car, and when it is released it is extremely unpopular and none of the cars sell. This makes Herbet Powell broke, and he leaves on a bus without even saying goodbye to Homer. On the way home, to cheer up Homer, Bart Simpson tells him that he thought Homer's car was cool.
Bart's Dog Gets an F / season 2 - episode 16 After chewing up Homer Simpson's new $125 sneakers and the Bouvier family quilt, Santa's Little Helper is enrolled in an obedience school. He is the worst dog in the class, and the only way he can stay with the Simpsons is to pass his final exam. On the night before, Santa's Little Helper starts to understand Bart Simpson, and he passes his exam while the Simpsons watch with pride.
Old Money / season 2 - episode 17 When Abraham 'Grandpa' Simpson inherits one hundred six thousand dollars from his deceased sweetie, he decides to give it to people who need it most after seeing all the implications if he gives it to the people who came to him for funding. Unfortunately, he finds he needs more to help people, so Grandpa Simpson goes to the casino. Following his dad, Homer Simpson saves him from losing every dollar he received, and Grandpa Simpson uses the money to refurbish the old folk's home.
Brush With Greatness / season 2 - episode 18 While Homer Simpson tackles his weight problem, Marge Simpson takes up painting, a skill which she gave up due to an obnoxious art teacher in high school, and ends up being commissioned to do a portrait of Mr. Burns. While painting him, Mr.Burns remarks on Homer's fatness when he has lost 10 pounds. Marge tells him she can paint him without him being there. When the portrait is shown, Mr.Burns is naked in it. However, he is outraged (at first) but eventually accepts his new glory with humidity.
Lisa's Substitute / season 2 - episode 19 Lisa Simpson's regular teacher falls sick, and gets replaced with a substitute teacher who changes the face of learning for Lisa. Meanwhile, Bart Simpson runs against Martin, the class brain, for president of his class. Lisa is heartbroken when her teacher leaves, and finds him on the train and says a heartfelt goodbye. None of Bart's supporters bother to vote (only two people in the whole class do) even though he was the most popular, so Martin becomes class president.
The War of the Simpsons / season 2 - episode 20 After being embarrassed by Homer Simpson during a house party, Marge Simpson signs up for Reverend Lovejoy's marriage retreat at Catfish Lake. However, Homer has fishing on his mind, and the only sitter they could get at the last minute is Grandpa Simpson. Homer goes fishing against Marge's wishes, and she is angry with him. Still in his boat, Homer throws away the giant fish that he wrestled for 5 hours, and hugs Marge. When they get home, the house is spotless even though Bart Simpson and Lisa Simpson had a party, thanks to Grandpa Simpson pretending to cry.
Three Men and a Comic Book / season 2 - episode 21 In order to earn enough money to purchase the very first Radioactive Man comic book (valued at $100), Bart Simpson takes a part time job with a neighbor. However, after discovering that working is for chumps, Bart enters into a partnership with Martin and Milhouse. They find that they do not trust one another with the comic book, so they stay the night at Bart's. When Milhouse falls out of the treehouse because of an argument, Bart catches him, but cannot save the comic book (Martin, meanwhile, is tied to a chair) without letting go of Milhouse. Bart lets the comic book flutter away (it is destroyed - it was raining) and all three of them forgive each other. Cloris Leachman guest stars.
Blood Feud / season 2 - episode 22 Mr. Burns needs double-O negative blood, and only Bart Simpson can supply. Homer Simpson expects a present of some sort from Mr.Burns, and when he receives a thankyou letter he is outraged. He writes an angry letter back, and decides to post it in the morning. Changing his mind in the night, Homer comes to tear the letter up, but finds that Bart has already posted it. When Mr.Burns receives the letter, he makes Homer's life as miserable as possible but comes to his senses when Smithers refuses to beat Homer to a pulp because he saved Mr.Burns' life. Mr.Burns gives the Simpsons a giant $30,000 rare Olmec Indian head statue as a present, but Homer thinks it is a cheap reward for saving a man's life. report error and omissions here
