The Simpsons season 5 The fifth season on DVD? check here: The fifth season episode guide Homer's Barbershop Quartet / season 5 - episode 1 We flashback to 1985, where Homer Simpson, Apu, Principal Skinner, and Chief Wiggum (replaced with Barney) were the hit barbershop quartet known as the 'B Sharps'. They are a major success, until friction and arguments over lyrics break the band apart. After the story Homer feels nostalgic, so he gathers his old members of the group and they sing on Moe's Tavern's roof. George Harrison guest stars. Cape Feare / season 5 - episode 2 Sideshow Bob is paroled from prison, and he has only one thing in mind for Bart Simpson: revenge. Homer Simpson and Marge Simpson seek help from the FBL, and are relocated onto a houseboat, now called 'The Thompsons'. Sideshow Bob follows them, and on the night they arrive ties everyone up except Bart. As a last request, Bart asks Sideshow Bob to sing the entire score from the 'H.M.S. Pinafore', during which time the boat drifts back to Springfield and the family is saved. Homer Goes to College / season 5 - episode 3 In order to continue in his job at the nuclear power plant, Homer Simpson must attend college. When Homer causes an accident in his nuclear physics class, the teacher recommends that he be taught by three nerds. Instead, Homer gets them in trouble for a prank and they are expelled from the college. When Homer accidentally runs the Dean over in his car, he confesses at the hospital and the nerds are allowed back. Homer flunks his final exam, but the nerds use computers to change the grade to an A+. Marge Simpson, however, finds out and tells Homer that he has to retake the course. Rosebud / season 5 - episode 4 When Mr. Burns was very young, he gave up his teddy bear, Bobo, for a life of riches. Now growing old, he desires for his teddy bear, which Maggie Simpson loves dearly. Burns finds out that Maggie has Bobo, and tries to steal from and turn the whole neighbourhood against the Simpsons, but fails. In the end he offers a cash settlement, but Homer Simpson refuses. Maggie gives Burns the teddy bear back, but he realizes how happy she is with it and gives it back to her. NOTES: The Ramones guest star. Tree House of Horror IV / season 5 - episode 5 1993 In a Night Gallery parody, Bart Simpson presents three tales of terror... In “The Devil and Homer Simpson,” Homer gives up his soul for a single doughnut. Now, the Devil wants Homer. Next, Bart has a nightmare about a bus crash. And his nightmare is about to come true when a playful gremlin starts taking the bus apart piece by piece “Terror at 5 1/2 Feet”. Finally, Mr. Burns is a vampire, and he wants blood, and he turns Bart into a vampire in “Bart Simpson's Dracula.” Marge on the Lam / season 5 - episode 6 When Homer Simpson fails to show up, Marge Simpson decides to go to the ballet with Ruth Powers, the next door neighbor. Ruth returns the favour and takes Marge out the next night. Unbeknown to Marge, Ruth is driving a stolen car. With Homer in the back seat, Chief Wiggum gives chase. Ruth nearly drives them off a cliff, but they stop the car just in time. Wiggum and Homer drive off the cliff and land in a giant pile of rubbish. Bart's Inner Child / season 5 - episode 7 Bart Simpson accidentally has the entire town emulating his actions, thanks to a feel-good therapist. Realizing he is not a rebel anymore, Bart becomes depressed. The townspeople find that several disasters are caused by behaving like Bart, and they turn on him. Luckily for Bart, they soon lose interest. James Brown guest stars. Boy Scoutz N the Hood / season 5 - episode 8 When Bart Simpson finds a $20, he spends it on a squishy, made of pure syrup. After a wild night, he wakes up to find that he joined a boy scout troop, with leader Ned Flanders. Homer Simpson goes with Bart on a rafting trip, only to get them lost at sea. Homer eats all the rations and accidentally burns a hole in the raft, but uses his nose to find the safety of a Krustyburger on an oil rig. NOTES: Earnest Borgnine guest stars. The Last Temptation of Homer / season 5 - episode 9 Homer Simpson falls in love with a new female employee at the nuclear plant who is just like Homer. He feels guilty letting down Marge Simpson. They go to an Energy Convention together, and win a night out in Capital City. Once there, Homer confesses that he still loves Marge, but is very tempted. They brainstorm and Marge is taken along with Homer and they have a night of romance. Michelle Pfiffer and Werner Klemperer guest star. $pringfield / season 5 - episode 10 When the local economy stalls, everyone, including Marge Simpson, votes to legalize gambling on Springfield. Mr. Burns even opens up his own casino, Homer Simpson gets to be a blackjack dealer, and Marge is addicted to the slot machines. When Marge is not around, the family goes awry. Homer pulls her from the slot machines and she promises to stop gambling ever again. Robert Goulet and Gerry Cooney guest star. Homer the Vigilante / season 5 - episode 11 When a cat burglar hits Springfield, Homer Simpson vows to fight back. He organizes s Neighbourhood Watch group. Homer receives a call from the cat burglar threatening to steal a jewel from the Springfield Museum. He goes on a stakeout, but is distracted by minors drinking beer. Grandpa comes forward and identifies the cat burglar, but he escapes from prison by sending the town to look for treasure under a 'big T'. Sam Neil guest stars. Bart Gets Famous / season 5 - episode 12 After escaping from a field trip to a cardboard factory, Bart Simpson sneaks into the Krusty the Clown show, and becomes his assistant. However, Bart is launched into instant stardom after accidentally wrecking a set on live TV and uttering, 'I didn't do it.' When Bart is put on the stage as an actual performance, nobody laughs. Krusty tries to comfort him, telling Bart about the fickle nature of show business. Homer and Apu / season 5 - episode 13 After getting food poisoning from eating the Kwik-E-Mart food, Homer Simpson gets Apu, the Kwik-E-Mart employee, fired. Regretting his actions, Homer vows to get Apu his job back. Homer messes up the meeting with the Kwik-E-Mart CEO in India, but Apu gets his job back when he saves a man's life during a robbery attempt. James Woods guest stars. Lisa vs. Malibu Stacy / season 5 - episode 14 After objecting to the voice disk used on her new talking Malibu Stacey doll that demeans women, Lisa Simpson find the creator and they produce a new doll that reflects the 90s called 'Lisa Lionheart'. To stop the doll becoming popular, the company that produces Malibu Staceys brings out a new model with a hat. One little girl buys a Lisa Lionheart doll, and Lisa is satisfied. Kathleen Turner guest stars. Deep Space Homer / season 5 - episode 15 After seeing their ratings decline, NASA decides to send Joe Average to space. In this case, Joe Average is Homer Simpson. When in space, Homer spills potato chips, and in space this is a major hazard. Homer nearly gets sucked out of the airlock when the chips are sucked out of the ship, and breaks the doorhandle in the process. They only manage to land again when Homer wedges the door shut with a carbon rod . James Taylor, and Buzz Aldrin guest star. Homer Loves Flanders / season 5 - episode 16 After Ned Flanders give a ticket to Homer Simpson for a much-hyped football game, Homer becomes Ned's best friend. He is all the time with the Flanders, and Marge complains. Homer organizes a two-family camping trip, but the two families don't get along. When the Simpsons start a food fight, Ned doesn't like Homer anymore. At church, Ned yells at Homer when Homer is suddenly the good guy. The next week, everything returns to normal and Homer is once again annoyed by Flanders. Bart Gets an Elephant / season 5 - episode 17 When 'KBBL is going to give me something stupid', Bart Simpson forgoes the $10,000 cash price for an elephant. Problem is, the elephant is causing some major problems. Homer Simpson tries to earn money from it by offering rides, but he doesn't make enough. He wants to sell the elephant (Stampy) to an ivory dealer, but the family convince him to let Stampy go to an animal refuge. Burns' Heir / season 5 - episode 18 Nearly drowning in the bathtub, Mr. Burns decides to find an heir. He sees it in the form of Bart Simpson and coerces the young Simpson into staying with him. Burns tries to convince Bart that his family hates him, and Bart falls for the ploy. When Burns asks Bart to fire Homer Simpson from his job, Bart realizes he loves his family and flicks a switch, sending Burns down a chute in the floor. Sweet Seymour Skinner's Baadasssss Song / season 5 - episode 19 Bart Simpson brings the family dog to school for Show and Tell unfortunately the dog escapes and indiirectly gets Principal Skinner fired. School life under Principal Flanders just isn't the same and Bart schemes to get Skinner back. Bart makes friends with Skinner, and Ned is fired for trying to introduce prayer to a public school. When Skinner is returned to his post, he and Bart return to their old relationship. The Boy Who Knew Too Much / season 5 - episode 20 Bart Simpson skips class and witnesses a waiter brutally beaten. The Mayor's nephew is blamed, but Bart can clear him, however it would mean coming clean about skipping class. The jury votes Freddy Quimby guilty all except Homer Simpson, who enjoys the privileges of the hotel. Bart confesses and the charges are dropped. Thanks to Bart's confession, Skinner only gives Bart four months detention. Lady Bouvier's Lover / season 5 - episode 21 Grampa Simpson falls in love with Marge Simpson's mother, Jackie, but Mr. Burns woos her away from him. Grampa is broken hearted when learning Jackie is going to marry Burns. They compete against each other for Jackie. When Burns kicks Bart Simpson for dropping the ring at their wedding, Jackie Bouvier is disgusted and decides not to marry either man. Secrets of a Successful Marriage / season 5 - episode 22 Worrying about being slow, Homer Simpson decides to teach a marriage course. Unfortunately, he doesn't succeed as a teacher until he starts spilling some of Marge Simpson's personal secrets. Marge finds out, but Homer cannot stop himself. When Moe teases Homer in front of Marge, she kicks Homer out of the house.
