House of Horror VII / season 8 - episode 1
Sorry, no fanfare this year, just three more stories:
In “The Thing and I”, Bart
Simpson discovers the 'evil twin' brother
he never knew he had, locked away in the Simpsons'
attic. Next, Lisa
Simpson's tooth-desolved-in-soda science experiment
develops into a higher form of life, who eventually
see Lisa as God and Bart as the Devil in “The
Genesis Tub”. Finally, as the election draws
near, the aliens Kang and Kodos kidnap and assume
the roles of Bob Dole and Bill Clinton. It's up
to Homer
Simpson to expose their evil plot for world
domination in “Citizen Kang”.
You Only Move Twice / season 8 - episode 2
Homer
Simpson moves the family to a new town after
he receives a better job offer, but Homer is oblivious
to the fact that his new boss is a supervillain
who is out to rule the world. Homer is having
the time of his life, but Marge
Simpson finds she is driven crazy by the automated
housework, Lisa
Simpson is allergic to the flowers in the
forest and Bart
Simpson is sent to remedial class because
he can't write Cursive. In the middle of a U.N.
attack, Homer resigns and the family goes back
to Springfield. In thanks to Homer, Scorpio (the
supervillain) gives him the Denver Broncos.
The Homer They Fall / season 8 - episode 3
Moe turns Homer
Simpson into a successful boxer after discovering
Homer can absorb massive blows to the head, but
Marge
Simpson is worried that won't save Homer in
the upcoming match with Drederick Tatum, the heavyweight
champion. Homer's strategy is to let the opponent
punch him until they're worn out, then Homer knocks
them down with a single punch. This doesn't work
in the final fight - Tatum is too strong - so
Moe airlifts him out. Michael Buffeer and Paul
Winfield guest star.
Burns Baby Burns / season 8 - episode 4
Burns discovers his long lost 60-year-old illegitimate
son, Larry, is insulting and lazy, and wants nothing
to do with him. Homer
Simpson thinks a good kidnapping is all that's
needed to change Burns' mind. They are caught,
and they admit it was a hoax. Burns forgives Larry
for the hoax, but explains that he cannot continue
to be his father, and Larry decides to go home.
He then stages an impromptu street party. Rodney
Dangerfield guest stars.
Bart After Dark / season 8 - episode 5
As punishment for destroying private property,
Bart
Simpson is forced to work for the homeowner,
but unbeknown to everyone in the family, including
Bart, the homeowner runs a shady business where
people leave with lighter wallets and smiles on
their faces (a burlesque salon). Marge
Simpson feels it is not right to have such
a place in Springfield, and she forms a group.
They go to the house and try to destroy it, but
the owners sing a song that changes everyone's
mind. Marge's bulldozer slips out of gear and
damages the house, so to pay, Marge must perform
a ventriloquist act.
A Milhouse Divided / season 8 - episode 6
Homer
Simpson questions his own marriage bless when,
at the latest Simpsons party, Kirk and Luann Van
Houten (Milhouse's parents) announce their divorce.
He finds frozen hot dogs in the sink thawing when
he gets home one night and realizes he takes his
marriage for granted. Homer divorces Marge
Simpson, but then remarries her with a better
ceremony than last time. Kirk asks LuAnn if she
will marry him again, but she still refuses.
Lisa's Date with Density / season 8 - episode 7
Lisa
Simpson enters into a doomed romance when
she attempts to change Nelson Muntz, the school
bully she develops a crush on. She soon realizes
that he cannot be changed and loses her crush
on him when he throws expired cole slaw at Skinner's
house. Meanwhile, Homer
Simpson discovers quick cash in telemarketing
fraud. He is caught, and uses telemarketing to
apologize and to ask for more money!
Hurricane Neddy / season 8 - episode 8
Ned Flanders checks himself into a mental hospital
after suffering a nervous breakdown when his house
is destroyed in a hurricane. It unfolds that as
a child, Ned was very naughty, so he was taught
to suppress his feelings. This worked too well,
and he suppressed them with nonsense words. The
psychologist brings in Homer
Simpson, and teaches Ned to let some of his
feelings out. He is cured.
El Viaje Misterioso de Nuestro Homer / season 8 - episode 9
Consuming too may hot peppers gives Homer
Simpson visions, which tell him to seek out
his "soulmate". Homer wanders all over
town until he comes to the lighthouse, where he
thinks his soulmate is, until he finds it is run
by an automated computer system. Marge
Simpson arrives and apologizes to Homer for
accusing him of getting drunk. Homer realizes
Marge is his true soulmate. Johnny Cash guest
stars.
The Springfield Files / season 8 - episode 10
Homer
Simpson witnesses something out of this world
in Springfield Woods, but no one believes him,
not even FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully
(from The X-Files), who came to investigate the
incident. Everyone camps out near the forest to
catch a glimpse of the alien. Lisa
Simpson shines her flashlight on it, and they
find out who it really is - Mr.Burns! He takes
drugs to make him look younger and increase his
life every Friday and this leaves him in a strange
state. Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny and Leonard
Nimoy guest star.
The Twisted World
of Marge Simpson / season 8 - episode 11
Marge
Simpson's new pretzel franchise is failing
until Homer
Simpson strikes a deal with Fat Tony, Springfield's
local mobster. The sales of Marge's pretzels skyrocket,
and Fat Tony arrives at the Simpson home to collect
all the money. They are headed off by the Japanese
mafia, who are sent by a rival franchise to rub
out Fat Tony and his boys. Jack Lemmon and Joe
Mantegna guest star.
Mountain of Madness / season 8 - episode 12
To promote team work amongst the power plant's
employees Burns makes them go on a corporate retreat
up in the mountains: the goal to find a hidden
cabin. Burns and Homer
Simpson find it, but are trapped under an
avalanche in the process. Insane from the cold,
Burns and Homer end up in a fight where they rupture
a propane tank, sending the cabin through the
sky to safety.
Simpsoncalifragilisticexpiala(Annoyed Grunt)cious / season 8 - episode 13
The Simpson family get a nanny after Marge
Simpson starts loosing her hair to overwork
stress. The nanny is called Shary Bobbins, and
she arrives on an umbrella. She teaches Bart
Simpson and Lisa
Simpson how to clean, and charms the entire
town with her charisma and wisdom. The Simpsons
still stay messy, and Shary leaves, her spirit
crushed. As she floats away on her umbrella, she
is sucked into a jet plane's engine.
The Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show / season 8 - episode 14
In the 167th episode of The Simpsons, Homer
Simpson provides the voice for Poochie, a
new character added to the The Itchy and Scratchy
Show in a desperate attempt to boost sagging ratings.
Nobody likes Poochie, and Homer finds out that
they are going to kill the character off. He refuses
to co-operate and makes up his own lines instead
of reading from the script. In the next episode,
Poochie is edited out. Alex Rocco guest stars.
NOTES: with this episode The Simpsons surpasses
The Flintsones as television's longest-running,
animated prime-time series.
Homer's Phobia / season 8 - episode 15
A shop owner (called John) befriends the Simpson
family, but after discovering he is a homosexual
Homer
Simpson fears Bart
Simpson will emulate him. Homer goes on a
trip with Bart to make him more "manly".
They end up in a reindeer pen and Bart is urged
to kill a reindeer, but he refuses. Just as the
reindeer attack Homer, John arrives with a remote-controlled
Santa, which calms the herd. Homer thanks John
for saving his life. John Waters guest stars.
Brother From Another Series / season 8 - episode 16
Bart
Simpson suspects a sinister motive when Sideshow
Bob reunites with his estranged bother Cecil,
who promptly places Bob in charge of supervising
the building of Springfield's Hydroelectric Dam.
Bart and Lisa
Simpson catch Bob with a suitcase full of
money and he explains his innocence, but Bart
and Lisa don't believe him. Cecil comes in, holding
them at gunpoint. His plan is to blow up the dam
with the three in it, getting the $15,000,000
from the project. Bart, Lisa and Bob escape with
Bob's help, and they foil Cecil's plan. Although
he is innocent, Bob gets sent to prison along
with his brother. David Hyde Pierce guest stars.
My Sister, My Sitter / season 8 - episode 17
Lisa
Simpson's babysitting reputation is put to
the test when she is assigned the task of babysitting
Bart
Simpson and Maggie
Simpson, for which Bart is determine to make
Lisa's life a 'living Hell'. When Bart refuses
to go to bed, Lisa lunges at him and he falls
down the stairs, dislocating his arm. Bart bangs
his head against a door to get Lisa in more trouble,
but he falls unconscious. Lisa takes him in a
wheelbarrow to take him to a doctor, but he falls
out and rolls down into a place a few yards from
the gala. Everyone sees Bart and Lisa, and thinks
she's on drugs. The next day, Lisa receives even
more offers for babysitting jobs.
Homer vs. the 18th Amendment / season 8 - episode 18
When Prohibition hits the town of Springfield,
and with Bart
Simpson's help, Homer
Simpson goes into the booze making business.
Eventually Homer gets it right, and supplies beer
to most of the town. He approaches Chief Wiggum
with a plan to get rid of a new agent called Rex
Banner. Homer is about to receive his punishment
according to the old law (i.e. being catapulted)
until Marge
Simpson gives a speech and Homer is untied.
As Banner rebuts, he steps onto the catapult and
is thrown out of town. The City Hall clerk then
states that the law had in fact been repealed
before. Dave Thomas and Joe Mantegna guest star.
Grade School Confidential / season 8 - episode 19
After stumbling across Principal Skinner and
Mrs. Krabappel kissing, Bart
Simpson strikes a deal with them to keep it
a secret, but unknown to Bart the deal he makes
lands him in the middle of this love affair. Tired
of being the go-between, he exposes Skinner and
Krabappel in a cupboard together. The story spreads
and soon everyone thinks Skinner and Krabappel
did more than just kissing. There is a standoff
on the roof of the school, but Skinner breaks
and admits that he is a virgin. The matter is
cleared up.
The Canine Mutiny / season 8 - episode 20
Purchasing an expensive purebred dog on a fraudulent
credit card lands Bart
Simpson in the doghouse when creditors want
the dog back, but Santa's Little Helper ends up
the supposed dog. Bart finds he misses him, and
gives the purebred dog to the police. He finds
Santa's Little Helper with a blind man, but is
caught and the police come. The purebred dog seems
to like the blind man, but he is really sniffing
the bag of marijuana in his pocket. Bart gets
Santa's Little Helper back and other police arrive
with beer and reggae music. Frank Welker guest
stars.
The Old Man and the Lisa / season 8 - episode 21
Mr. Burns loses his vast fortune and turns to
Lisa
Simpson for help in getting it back through
environmental means. He shows Lisa his new plant
that turns aquatic life into an all-purpose 'goo'.
Lisa is horrified. Burns regains his fortune and
buys back the nuclear power plant. He gives Lisa
her share of the profits, but she rips the check
up, giving Homer
Simpson a multiple heart attack. Bret "the
Hitman" Hart guest stars.
In Marge We Trust / season 8 - episode 22
Marge
Simpson becomes the "Listen Lady"
when the people of Springfield turn to her after
Reverend Lovejoy loses interest in helping people.
When Marge is unable to help Ned, she gets Reverend
Lovejoy and he rescues Ned from some baboons in
the zoo. Telling the story in his next sermon,
Lovejoy captures the congrgation's interest. Meanwhile,
Homer
Simpson sets out to discover why his face
is on a box of dish soap. It turns out that the
face was made by combining two pictures of a fish
and a light bulb. Sab Shimono, Gedde Watanaabe
and Frank Welker guest star.
Homer's Enemy / season 8 - episode 23
Frank Grimes (the new employee at the power plant)
isn't impressed with Homer
Simpson's bad habits and lack of professional
work. Grimes becomes disgruntled when he learns
Homer is more of a success than he is. He goes
insane and starts to imitate Homer's behaviour
as he sees it. He runs amok through the plant
and electrocutes himself. As he is laid to rest,
Homer snores and mumbles in his sleep, and the
mourners laugh good-naturedly at Homer. Frank
Welker guest stars.
Simpsons Spin-off Showcase / season 8 - episode 24
Troy McClure present three Simpsons spin-off
spoofs: In “Chief Wiggum, P.I.”, Chief
Wiggum becomes a detective and moves to New Orleans
with Principal Skinner as his assistant. Next,
Grampa Simpson's soul is trapped inside Moe's
Love tester machine in “The Love-Matic Grampa”.
Finally, the Simpson family host a '70-ish variety
show in “The Simpson Family Smile-Time Variety
Hour”. Notes: Tim Conway and Gailard Sartain
guest star.
The Secret War of Lisa Simpson / season 8 - episode 25
Lisa
Simpson is determined to stick it out as the
only girl at boot camp when she and Bart
Simpson attends military school. All the boys
hate her, and even Bart doesn't speak to her.
Later, Bart secretly apologizes to Lisa and asks
her to stay at military school. The final test
is to crawl over a 150-foot rope with thornbushes
below. Bart secretly trains Lisa. When on the
rope, Lisa stops halfway. Bart breaks away from
his classmates and shouts words of encouragement.
Her spirits lifted, Lisa continues and makes it.
Willem Dafoe guest stars.
