Herrenvolk / season 4 - episode 1

Director: R.W. Goodwin
Having found Jeremiah Smith, Mulder must choose between saving his mother's life or finding the answer to some of his questions about his sister, all the while trying to stay ahead of the alien assassin. Scully meanwhile turns to her science to analyze some data recovered from Jeremiah's files.

A shallow grave holding a deformed baby bring Mulder and Scully to a small town in Pennsylvania. There they are met with residents who treat each other like family. But the murder case introduces them to some of the townspeople who take that concept a little too far.


Teliko / season 4 - episode 3
Writer: Howard Gordon
Director: Jim Charleston
Scully's assistance as a medical investigator is requested by the Center for Disease Control when a black man's corpse is found, but completely lacking in pigmentation. But when Mulder joins the case, he suspects that their suspected disease carrier may not be carrying a disease at all, but rather the prime suspect in a murder case.


Unruhe / season 4 - episode 4

Director: Rob Bowman
An abducted woman turns up after being lobotomized and the only clue left behind seems to be a photograph which appears to Scully to have been misdeveloped. However, Mulder does not believe the photo to be an error, but rather a peek into the criminal's mind which he attempts to interpret before the abductor lobotomizes his next victim.


The Field Where I Died / season 4 - episode 5

Director: Rob Bowman
The storming of a religious cult nearly results in failure until Mulder inexplicably discovers a civil war bunker where the cultists have hidden themselves. However, unable to turn up any evidence against the cult, it is up to Mulder to come up with some even if it means speaking with one of the cultist's past lives.


Sanguinarium / season 4 - episode 6
Writer: Valerie Mayhew & Vivian Mayhew
Director: Kim Manners
The plastic surgery unit of a hospital becomes the gruesome site of a patient's murder by their doctor. Mulder and Scully come to determine the credibility of his story that he was possessed when he did it. Their investigation turns up a nurse who seems to be a practitioner of magic who knows the price some will pay for beauty.


Musings of a Cigarette-Smoking Man / season 4 - episode 7
Writer: Glen Morgan
Director: James Wong
Mulder and Scully meet with Frohike at the Lone Gunman offices, Frohike informs them about the secret past of the mysterious Cigarette Smoking Man, who has been one step ahead of them all along. They learn how the Cigarette Smoking Man, orphaned after the death of his parents, was recruited by the government whilst an Army Captain. Quickly becoming a powerful player in the shadowy world he inhabits. Working with a vengeance to conceal the truth at any cost.


Tunguska / season 4 - episode 8
Writers: Chris Carter & Frank Spotnitz
Director: Kim Manners
Mulder receives an anonymous tip about a right wing militia group planning an Oklahoma style bombing. The informant turns out to be Alex Krycek, rescued from the missile silo by the Militia group. Krycek manages to persuade Mulder that he can help bring down the Cigarette Smoking Man and the shadowy Syndicate he is part of. Despite his personal loathing of Krycek, Mulder reluctantly believes him. Especially after he helps Mulder and Scully to intercept a Russian courier's parcel, which contains a 4 billion year old extraterrestrial rock. Part one of two.


Terma / season 4 - episode 9

Director: Rob Bowman
Mulder travels to Tunguska, but ends up in a Siberian Gulag, where he discovers that the prisoner are injected with 'Black Cancer' and soon die. Mulder driven by his hatred of Krycek, manages to escape. A former KGB assassin, Peskow is brought out of retirement by the Well Manicured Man for a clean up mission. Back in Washington Scully investigates the Black Worms and is due to testify to the Senate Subcommittee hearing, but someone with a different agenda is pulling the strings, and the hearing focuses on the whereabouts of Agent Mulder, not the origin of the extra terrestrial Black worms.Part two of two.


Paper Hearts / season 4 - episode 10

Mulder is haunted by a series of vivid dreams, that lead him to discover the buried bones of a murdered child, Mulder recognises the M.O. of the crime fits to a serial killer John Lee Roche, whom Mulder profiled in one of his first cases. From 1979 to 1990, Roche abducted 13 young girls, strangled them and kept heart shaped material he cut from their clothes as trophies. But when the body is identified, it shows that Roche began his killing spree as early as 1975.


El Mundo Gira / season 4 - episode 11
Writer: John Shiban
Director: Tucker Gates
When a woman linked to two brothers is found mutilated and dead in a Migrant Workers Camp in the San Janqui Valley. Mulder and Scully investigate after an eyewitness recalls three loud booms, a blinding light and a sudden downpour of hot yellow rain. Evidence that Mulder recognises as Fortean events, strange occurrences linked to alien encounters. The eyewitness believes it was El Chupacabra, a hairless creature from Mexican folklore.


Leonard Betts / season 4 - episode 12
Writers: Frank Spotnitz & John Shiban & Vince Gilligan
Director: Kim Manners
Mulder and Scully are brought in to investigate the disappearance of the body of Leonard Betts, a paramedic decapitated when the ambulance he was travelling in was hit by a truck. Scully believes that someone has taken the corpse to sell the parts. But security camera footage, appears to show Leonard Betts' body with a distortion around the head walking out of the hospital.


Never Again / season 4 - episode 13
Writers: Glen Morgan & James Wong
Director: Rob Bowman
When handsome divorcee Ed Jerse gets drunk and has a Betty Page like tattoo with the words 'never again' done, he begins to hear a woman's voice taunting him. Which culminates in him attacking and murdering a neighbour. Meanwhile with Mulder having to take time off or face loosing pay, Scully is left to work on her own. Angry at Mulder for telling her to stake out a Russian who claims to know about UFOs, she follows him to a tattoo parlour and soon discovers that he is just an extortionist, who knows nothing about any X-files.


Memento Mori / season 4 - episode 14

Director: Rob Bowman
When Scully is diagnosed as having cancer, she decides to investigate a group of female abductee's who have also contracted cancer after having implants removed. The two agents go to the home of Betsy Hagopian, only to find that she died two weeks earlier. While searching the house, they realise that someone is accessing computer files by phone. The call is traced and a man, Kurt Crawford is taken into custody.


Kaddish / season 4 - episode 15

Director: Kim Manners
After a Jewish man, Isaac Luria is murdered by three youths in what appears to be a hate-killing, one of youths is strangled by an unknown assailant. Mulder and Scully are called in to investigate. That try to uncover weather vigilantes are to blame, or if it is the work of some higher force. The case takes a turn when the late Luria's finger prints are found on the dead youth's body.

When Lieutenant General MacDougal is killed in the back of his limousine, his driver is suspected, especially after he is linked to a Paramilitary group called the Right Hand. Until lab test reveal he had not fired a weapon. With a number of high ranking military officials due in for a re-dedication ceremony at the Vietnam War Memorial, Skinner assigns Mulder and Scully to investigate the Right Hand group and it's leader Denny Markham.

A janitor in Martinsburgh, West-Virginia, by the name of Eddie Van Blundht was born with a tail. He has the ability to metamorphose into an exact duplicate of another human being. By doing this, Eddie has impregnated five women, four of them by making himself look like their husbands, one was believing she was making love to Luke Skywalker...


Zero Sum / season 4 - episode 21

Director: Kim Manners
Skinner intercepts Mulder's e-mail and covers-up the death of Jane Brody, a mail sorter who was attacked by a swarm of bees. Skinner even switches Brody's blood sample at a police forensic lab. When Mulder discovers Skinner's face on the image of a surveillance camera, he accuses him of working together with the Cigarette-Smoking Man. Skinner insists he was framed.


Elegy / season 4 - episode 22

Mulder and Scully track a series of murders that lead to a home for the mentally ill and a clue that makes no sense: each victim had a purported warning from the dead.


Demons / season 4 - episode 23

Scully is concerned for Mulder's well-being when he suffers from a memory loss while investigating a case and is the only suspect in a brutal double murder.


Gethsemane / season 4 - episode 24

Agent Mulder discovers the ultimate proof of extraterrestrial life while Scully is forced to confront her own mortality.
