The Furies / season 3 - episode 1

Three beautiful but horrifying women do a frenzied dance in the Temple of the Furies. They represent madness. One of them is spinning like a top and shrieks loudly. Another looks like she's going through convulsions and a third is in the throes of a wildly sensual dance. Ares, the god of war, is making a case against Xena and wants the Furies to impose judgment on her.


Been There, Done That / season 3 - episode 2

It's dawn in the stables. The rooster crows. Argo eats an apple. Joxer walks into the stable carrying a helmet full of goose eggs and gets bonked on the head by a horseshoe. The stable boy peeks down below, hoping he hasn't hit anything. And Gabrielle is annoyed with Joxer. This same scenario is played out each morning. Same plot, same characters and the same dialogue. Xena needs to find a way out.


The Dirty Half Dozen / season 3 - episode 3

When Ares, the God of War, provides brash and ambitious young Agathon and his troops with weapons made of the impenetrable metal of Hephaestus, Agathon and his men defeat an entire Athenian army. Agathon is elated by his success and and promises Ares undying loyalty. As the two conspire to conquer the world, Walsim, a notorious criminal, is being led to the chopping block in a nearby village. Just as the ax is about to fall, Xena spirits him away and offers him a proposition he can either join her to go up against Ares or be returned to town to face the axman.


The Deliverer / season 3 - episode 4

Xena and Gabrielle come upon four prisoners being led by two armed guards. When Xena learns that the captured men are enemies of the hated Caesar, she overpowers the guards and frees them. Khrafstar, one of the released prisoners and the First Priest of Temple of the One God, explains to Xena that he is recruiting mercenaries to join the warrior Boadicea in Britannia to fight Caesar. Xena immediately offers her help.


Gabrielle's Hope / season 3 - episode 5

Gabrielle awakens in a feverish state, tormented by the fact that she's taken a human life. She begins experiencing severe stomach pains as she and Xena make their way through the forest of the Banshees. Suddenly, a Banshee explodes from the ground in front of Xena and smashes her in the head. Xena immediately strikes back but the Banshee, who shuttles between corporeal and spiritual forms, has already departed her earthly body and slips away unharmed.

A wounded Chinese messenger staggers into Xena and Gabrielle's campsite one night and collapses. He tells Xena that he's been sent by the `Weak One,' which provokes a strong reaction in her. Suddenly, six Chinese warriors come charging out of the trees and try to kill the messenger. When Xena leaps to his defense, her combat skills are pushed to the limit by the warriors' amazing Hong Kong-style fighting moves.

Ming T'ien, the ruthless young Emperor of Chin who is also known as the "Green Dragon," orders that Xena be thrown into a dark polluted pit filled with stagnant water and a group of filthy half-starved prisoners. He flatly refuses Gabrielle's repeated pleas to see her and begins to tell Gabrielle how Xena's cruelty changed his life and taught him how to rule when he was just a young boy.


The King of Assassins / season 3 - episode 8

Xena ushers a criminal to his jail cell and is surprised to run across Joxer, who has been locked up in the same prison for stealing the guard's prized hen. When Xena laughs at him, Joxer begins to think that with some changes, he could, in fact, become dangerous. Meanwhile, Autolycus, the King of Thieves, and a masked man are breaking into a warlord's vault. After stealing the jeweled sword they came for, the masked man kills the warlord with his crossbow. As Autolycus protests the murder, the man rips off his mask to reveal Joxer!


Warrior... Priestess... Tramp / season 3 - episode 9

A group of thugs led by the battle-scarred Dexon is terrorizing a town one day when Xena arrives. Expecting a fight, Dexon is shocked when Xena throws down her sword, casts aside her warrior garb and urges him to give up his warrior ways. He immediately orders his men to grab her and they prepare to burn her at the stake. Hearing the news, Gabrielle rushes to the scene and is stunned when Xena starts babbling about how she must do whatever the Virgin Goddess Hestia ordains.


The Quill Is Mightier / season 3 - episode 10

When a jealous Aphrodite expresses anger over Xena'sgrowing popularity, Ares reminds her that it is Gabrielle's stories that are really responsible for turning Xena into a legend. Aphrodite decides she must do something to stop Gabrielle's tales of Xena's exploits and that night, she steals into their camp. As she secretly eavesdrops on their conversation, she is pleased to hear Xena urging Gabrielle to try her hand at fiction rather than recount their latest adventure.


Maternal Instincts / season 3 - episode 11

Xena and Gabrielle return to the Centaur village where Xena's 10-year-old son Solan, who still doesn't know his mother is Xena, is being raised by Kaleipus, the leader of the Centaurs. As the two arrive to join in the celebration of the signing of a Centaur peace treaty, they are welcomed with open arms by young Solan. Meanwhile, a 10-year-old girl named Fayla is playing ball near the edge of a old lava pit when suddenly, Callisto emerges from the chasm in a pillar of fire.


The Bitter Suite / season 3 - episode 12

Gabrielle returns to her Amazon sisters in despair to undergo a purification ritual after her terrible ordeal the death of her daughter Hope and her bitter parting from Xena. Ephiny tries to assure a very worried Joxer that Gabrielle's only chance of survival is to work through the pain. Elsewhere, Xena, who is in anguish over Gabrielle's betrayal and the murder of her son Solan, is approached by Ares as she sings a song of mourning. Ares convinces her to give vent to her rage and Xena comes riding into the Amazon village, determined to kill Gabrielle.


One Against An Army / season 3 - episode 13

Out in the woods one afternoon, Gabrielle sprains her ankle while attempting to perfect the "Xena flip." As Xena prepares to treat the swelling, Phiddipides rushes up and tells them to run for their lives. He reports that a huge foreign army has come ashore, laid waste to the troops in Marathon and is now heading their way. From his description, Xena deduces that the attackers are Persians.


Forgiven / season 3 - episode 14

The priest Dorus is anointing a row of supplicants in the Temple of Apollo when he is attacked by a group of men posing as worshippers. A tough-looking thug named Wayan rips the jewel-encrusted Urn of Apollo from Dorus' hands and with the help of his young sidekick Micah and two other accomplices, makes off with the sacred vase. Dorus catches up with Xena and Gabrielle in a local tavern and asks for help in recovering the Urn, explaining that the precious vessel gives those on the brink of being driven mad by remorse and guilt the strength to face their inner demons.


King Con / season 3 - episode 15

Joxer wins a hundred dinars at a gaming table only to lose it to a couple of swindlers who con him into exchanging the money for a large nugget of fool's gold. Meanwhile, the greedy gaming club owner Titus sends his brawny son Leo and a gang of guards after Joxer to steal his winnings back. When they catch up to him, they beat him senseless before Xena arrives and sends them running. Xena soon finds Rafe and Eldon, the two con men who took Joxer's money and sword, gambling in a lowlife tavern.


When In Rome... / season 3 - episode 16

Vercinix, the mighty Gaul warrior, is leading his countrymen in a grueling battle against the Romans when he is captured by Caesar. Meanwhile, in Mesopotamia, a similar battle has ended but here, it is the Romans who are defeated. Suddenly a familiar yell is heard and Xena comes riding into the camp on Argo, tossing a bag of swords to the Roman soldiers. As pandemonium breaks loose, Xena throws a rope around the Roman leader Crassus' waist and rides out of the camp dragging him behind her.


Forget Me Not / season 3 - episode 17

Gabrielle is still haunted by dreams of her betrayal of Xena even though the two have reconciled. While en route to meet Xena near the Temple of Mnemosyne, Gabrielle wakes screaming from one of these nightmares. When Joxer, stumbling to the rescue, finds her crying, she explains that she's unable to shake the haunting images running through her mind. She feels she must search for an answer to end her pain and insists on going off alone to find it.

Aphrodite is perusing a table of offerings in her temple when the scar-faced thug Maecenus arrives bearing a huge, glittering diamond. She orders him to take it to her temple in Parnassus, where it will be shot into the night sky to be displayed as the centerpiece of her constellation. Aphrodite knows that Xena is tailing Maecenus and that the diamond must be delivered to Parnassus by nightfall for her plan to work, so she orders him to leave at once.


Tsunami / season 3 - episode 19

When Xena and Gabrielle arrive in a harbor town, Gabrielle decides to visit a palm reader, who foresees great danger even death in her immediate future. Unimpressed by these predictions, Xena leads Gabrielle out of the palmist's booth and the two split up to gather supplies. As she walks along the wharf, Gabrielle is shocked to see Autolycus boarding a ship chained to two other prisoners. She rushes up to him and despite his protests, follows him onto the deck. Convinced that Gabrielle is trying to free Autolycus, the ship's captain orders his men to grab her as the ship casts off.


Vanishing Act / season 3 - episode 20

At the annual Festival of Peace, Gabrielle makes her way through a joyous crowd of villagers looking for Adar, the mayor. When she finds him, she explains that Xena has been delayed, but will be arriving the next day. Adar soon opens the festival by addressing the crowd in front of the majestic statue of Pax, the personification of peace. The following morning, however, the mayor panics when he sees that the 30-foot statue is missing from its pedestal.


Sacrifice (1) / season 3 - episode 21

In Ares' deserted temple, lightning strikes from the center of a pulsing light and thunder is heard as Callisto emerges from the Vortex with revenge on her mind. Meanwhile, Xena and Gabrielle are secretly witnessing a strange ceremony in which Gabrielle's friend Seraphin is about to be sacrificed. After a large clay mask is placed over her head, the young girl is lifted high in the air on poles and suspended over a bowl.

Inside the Halls of War, Gabrielle is amazed as she is greeted by her daughter Hope, who emerges from her cocoon looking exactly like her mother. For a second, the look that passes between the two suggests a human connection, but Hope's face suddenly distorts in rage as she summons her inhuman powers. Xena grabs for her sword, but Hope focuses her energies on the weapon, making it fly out of Xena's hands.
