Adventures in the Sin Trade (1) / season 4 - episode 1

Xena gallops into a small village and confronts Hades as to why she did not find Gabrielle in the Underworld. But Hades insists that Gabrielle did not to come to him. Remembering that Gabrielle was initiated as an Amazon princess, Xena surmises that she went to a different Land of the Dead. Xena leaves Argo behind and gallops away on another horse, hearing Gabrielle's voice in the wind. The next day, Xena enters a cave and begins to recall bitter memories.


Adventures in the Sin Trade (2) / season 4 - episode 2

Xena lies on the ground with her legs psychosomatically broken as the Berserker charges towards her on horseback. She manages to break the trance, which is forcing her to relive her past, long enough to crawl to a fallen warrior's horse. With sheer determination, Xena pulls herself onto the horse and the battle resumes. When the Berserker jumps onto Xena's steed, she plunges her sword into his heart, killing him. Now that the Berserker is dead, the trance should be lifted, but her legs still feel as if they're broken.


A Family Affair / season 4 - episode 3

As Joxer places flowers on Gabrielle's memorial at Dahak's shrine, Xena, convinced that her friend is still alive, pulls herself out of the abyss. She tells Joxer she had a vision about Gabrielle and believes she must have gone home to her family in Poteidaia. Xena then takes off for Gabrielle's village with Joxer right behind her. When they arrive, Xena spots Gabrielle and the two reunite with a tearful embrace.


In Sickness and In Hell / season 4 - episode 4

While travelling through heavy swamp land to find her horse Argo, Xena becomes infested with lice and Gabrielle develops a case of skin fungus. As they break camp, Xena sees Argo in a distant clearing. She whistles for her horse, but Argo turns and runs away. Xena is surprised, but assumes that her horse is upset because she abandoned her while looking for Gabrielle.


A Good Day / season 4 - episode 5

Xena and Gabrielle arrive in time to help a Greek mercenary, Phlanagus, save his village and family from Roman soldiers pillaging for food. Though Phlanagus has been fighting for the Romans to earn money for his family, he does not relish the violence of war. Xena calculates a plan using Phlanagus and his village to thwart Caesar. Caesar's army is battling the forces of his archrival Pompey and the fight has crossed the border of Greece.


A Tale of Two Muses / season 4 - episode 6

Xena and Gabrielle arrive in a village and find a teenager is about to be publicly whipped. As they leap to her rescue, Xena and Gabrielle discover that the teenager is Tara, a girl they had encountered in earlier travels. They are shocked to learn that she was being punished for dancing. Xena discovers that many years ago the town once suffered a horrible fire following a dance and now dancing is banned. Through the years, the true reason for the ban was lost and people now believe that the ban is based on religious decree.


Locked Up and Tied Down / season 4 - episode 7

Xena and Gabrielle are in a forest when they are attacked by a group of men, led by Draxel. After defeating the band, Gabrielle discovers that Draxel is carrying an arrest warrant for Xena. The warrant concerns the murder of a young girl named Thalassa. Years ago, Xena tied her to a stake in a tidal pool and left her to drown as the tide came in. Gabrielle insists on Xena's innocence, but Xena, overwhelmed with guilt, hands her chakram over to her friend and allows herself to be bound in chains and taken away.


Crusader / season 4 - episode 8

Xena and Gabrielle are attacked by soldiers led by Najara, a radiant young woman. In the midst of the battle, Najara suddenly stops fighting and stares up at the sky, smiling serenely. Xena is shocked when the woman falls to her knees and begs Xena and Gabrielle for forgiveness. Najara's men had mistaken them for slave traders, but Najara's Jinn, the benevolent spirits that speak to her, told her that Xena and Gabrielle fight for the good.


Past Imperfect / season 4 - episode 9

The night before they are to ride into Actus to warn the city's people of the danger of an approaching army, Xena tells Gabrielle about the vision she had of Gabrielle being tied to a cross near a mountain. Because of this possible premonition, Xena tries to convince Gabrielle to stay behind, but Gabrielle insists on going into the town. Upon their arrival the following morning, Xena and Gabrielle learn that half of the city's army has been stricken by the flu.


The Key To The Kingdom / season 4 - episode 10

After stealing a priceless jewel, Autolycus flees the scene of the crime. After successfully avoiding capture, he encounters Xena. Hoping to avoid her retribution, the King of Thieves confesses and throws back the ruby. Joxer appears and tells Autolycus that the person in front of him is not Xena - it is her one of her doubles, the barmaid Meg. Autolycus realizes that he could have kept the jewel and proceeds to exact his revenge upon Joxer.


Daughter of Pomira / season 4 - episode 11

During a journey through land controlled by the savage Horde, Xena remembers a terrible battle she unsuccessfully led in the past. Her reverie is interrupted by the sight of a blond Horde girl with three Horde hunters. Suddenly, Milo, a fanatic out for Horde blood, appears, killing one hunter and attacking the survivors. Xena steps in, allowing the younger Horde members to escape.


If The Shoe Fits... / season 4 - episode 12

As the notorious warlord Zantar informs his brothers about their next conquest, Xena springs into their camp and swoops up the warlord, vowing to put him back into prison. Xena returns to her camp and finds Gabrielle wearing a burlap sack for a shirt. As Gabrielle explains that her shirt disappeared during the night, she notices that Xena has used her shirt to tie him up. Miffed, Gabrielle wakes up Joxer and they break camp. As the three pass Aphrodite's temple, they hear the Goddess of Love's screams.


Paradise Found / season 4 - episode 13

While visiting a holy mountain, Gabrielle falls down a hole in a cave. Xena follows, only to find herself and Gabrielle in a bucolic world inhabited only by Aidan, the proprietor of the estate, and his crazy caretaker. Xena is surprised to find that a gash on her leg has healed without a trace. Xena and Gabrielle seek out Aidan, whose home is decorated with faceless statues in meditative poses. Aidan claims that he has found the path to peace. Gabrielle, seeing how beautiful this land is, is curious while Xena is immediately skeptical.


Devi / season 4 - episode 14

Xena and Gabrielle are amazed by the sights they see performed at a street bazaar in India: fakirs lying on a bed of nails and people walking across hot coals. It's all fun and games until someone loses her soul. In the midst of a magician's routine, his assistant Maya is suddenly inhabited by an evil spirit. Xena fights the powerful demon. The possessed girl collides into the magician and as Gabrielle pulls the girl off to help him, the spirit is cast out.


Between The Lines / season 4 - episode 15

Xena and Gabrielle, dressed in saris, walk through a village in India and come across a large crowd gathered around a burning pyre. Just as an Indian woman, Naiyima, is about to be thrown into the fire, Xena and Gabrielle rescue her and run into a house. As Xena searches for an escape route, Naiyima removes her cloak, revealing her arms, neck and legs covered with Mehndi like lines and designs. She rhythmically moves her arms and the lines come to life and spin off of her arms, attacking Xena and slicing her into a million fragments. The Mehndi lines and fragments of Xena rush back to a bare spot on Naiyima and Xena enters a Karmic tunnel.


The Way / season 4 - episode 16

Xena and Gabrielle are attacked by a group of demons as they walk along a riverbank. Xena puts "the pinch" on one of the demons and learns that they were sent by Indrajit, the King of Demons, to prevent Xena and Gabrielle from reaching the Avatar, a deity in human form destined to save humanity. Later that night, Xena tends to her wounds and questions if violence is the right path for her, now that she knows her destiny is to be a peacemaker. The next day, Xena and Gabrielle continue their journey and come across a crowd of poor and sick people who are being healed by the Avatar.


The Play's The Thing / season 4 - episode 17

Xena and Gabrielle are travelling to Archon, but Gabrielle is upset over losing the scroll that details her latest journeys with Xena. Xena tells her to go back to Piraeus to find the scroll and they can meet in Archon later. When Gabrielle returns to Pireaus, she encounters Joxer and is approached by Zehra and Milo, who have the missing scroll. Zehra, who thinks Gabrielle's message of peace is inspirational, introduces herself as a producer and convinces Gabrielle to base a play on her writings.


The Convert / season 4 - episode 18

Murderous thugs are sacking a temple and trying to kidnap the young followers, when Xena, Gabrielle and Joxer arrive to fight them. Xena engages the leader, Kryton, while Joxer shields the woman he was viciously beating. Gabrielle is shocked to realize that the woman is Najara, a religious zealot they had believed to be imprisoned. Joxer, while trying to shield Gabrielle and Najara, inadvertently kills Kryton. Xena is dismayed to see Najara, and Joxer is shocked that he has actually taken a life.


Takes One To Know One / season 4 - episode 19

On a stormy night, Xena enters the tavern owned by her mother, Cyrene. Finding the room suspiciously dark and quiet, Xena grabs someone hiding in the shadows. The lights come on, everyone yells surprise and Xena finds herself holding Joxer by the throat. Xena discovers that she has walked into a surprise birthday party for Gabrielle. All their friends are there: Xena's mother, Gabrielle's sister Lila, Joxer, Minya, and Autolycus.


Endgame / season 4 - episode 20

A group of Amazons led by Ephiny is cautiously advancing upon some Roman soldiers. Though Amarice, a young fighter from another tribe, is eager to fight, Ephiny prefers stealth. Finally, Ephiny orders the attack, but the resistance they encounter if formidable. This group of soldiers is led by Brutus, a brilliant leader and Caesar's most trusted soldier. While saving Amarice, Ephiny is killed at the hands of the Roman hero. With Ephiny dead, Gabrielle is sent for to be the Amazon queen.


The Ides of March / season 4 - episode 21

Images of Xena and Gabrielle torture Callisto, who is trapped in a place filled with fire and brimstone. The lord of this place has a two part task for Callisto: corrupt Xena and aid Caesar's rise to power. Callisto sees the job as a way out of her torment and eagerly accepts. Caesar awakens to find Callisto in his room and she has a proposition for him. At Callisto's request, Caesar places a huge price on Xena's head. Hearing of this, Xena decides to go to Rome and settle her feud with Caesar by killing him.


Deja Vu All Over Again / season 4 - episode 22

In the present day, a woman, Annie, wakes up suddenly from a vision. She shakes her husband, Harry, awake to tell him that she is convinced that she was Xena, the Warrior Princess, in a past life. Harry dismisses her dream as indigestion and believes that she is obsessed with the television show. Annie is undeterred and insists that, not only did she use to be Xena, but also that she has been going into a trance and appearing as the Xena vigilante that has been protecting members of their community.
